THE GENESIS
The Sparks That Ignited a Global Vision
In 1988, amidst the shifting landscape of social advocacy, our founder Dr. Elena Thorne recognized a profound disconnect between institutional resources and the grassroots communities that needed them most. What began in a small rented basement in London was never intended to be just another organization.
It was a response to a call for transparency, efficiency, and radical empathy. Dr. Thorne’s approach was revolutionary for its time: instead of top-down mandates, she proposed a collaborative model where the community defined the solution and the institution provided the bridge.
Thirty years later, that bridge has spanned continents, but the foundational principle remains untouched—we empower the people who are closest to the problems to lead the way to the solutions.
