Enhancing India’s disaster management capabilities through MINDS Skill Development Academy (MSDA): A partnership with NSDC and NDRF. In today’s interconnected world, the risk of natural and man-made disasters disrupting lives and communities is higher than ever. Acknowledging the urgent need to improve India’s preparedness and response to these events, MDSA has formed a strategic partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Together, we are excited to launch a pioneering initiative dedicated to Capacity Building for Disaster Management. This comprehensive program combines advanced technology, practical training, and expert guidance to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively respond to a range of emergencies.
A Comprehensive Approach to Learning and Preparedness: At MSDA, we recognize that disaster management requires a multifaceted approach that addresses a wide range of audiences and encompasses comprehensive learning. Our program includes several interconnected components, ensuring that participants are fully prepared to manage various disaster scenarios. Understanding the essential role of experiential learning, our program integrates practical training sessions.
These engaging exercises simulate emergency situations, allowing participants to engage in evacuation drills, practice first aid techniques, and develop other vital skills. By taking part in these drills, individuals build both confidence and muscle memory, ensuring a quick and effective response during real emergencies.

In 2022, we conducted a three-day First Responder Training program for 15,000 volunteers across North, South, and Central Chennai, with support from Chennai Corporation staff in various locations. The training involved collaboration with the MSDA team from TNDRF, Fire Service, and healthcare experts, who provided both classroom instruction and practical training. Student communities and the general public actively participated as volunteers.
