Empowering Rural Women through Tailoring Training
In India, many rural women face challenges due to lack of education and economic dependence. To address this, we established the Women Entrepreneurs’ Consortium in partnership with our corporate allies, focusing on creating self-employment opportunities for women in rural and tribal communities.
Our program offers comprehensive tailoring training, starting with the basics—taking measurements, understanding different fabrics, drafting and cutting, stitching, embroidery, and garment inspection and alteration. We also provide machine maintenance training, enabling participants to repair sewing machines for themselves and others.
Additionally, we focus on personality development and teaching techniques, empowering these women to train others at an affordable cost. This skill set not only allows them to earn a sustainable income but also helps them support their children’s education and enhance their self-esteem and economic standing.

Currently, our WEC Sewing Training Centers are located in Chennai, Virudhunagar, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Ambasambudram, Nagerkoil, Tanjore, and Madurai. We have successfully trained over 3,000 women, equipping them with sewing machines to help them lead independent and dignified lives.
